Ocean City Has 1 Positive Coronavirus Case

Cape May County released a breakdown by municipality for the first time Wednesday.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City has one positive case of the novel coronavirus, county officials reported Wednesday. Cape May County has reported nine cases of the virus, including three new positive cases Wednesday afternoon.

Cape May County released a breakdown of cases Wednesday by municipality for the first time. So it was not immediately clear when officials learned Ocean City has a positive case.

All people who have tested positive in Cape May County are recovering at home, expect for one, who is doing well at an out-of-county hospital, officials said.

For each positive case, the county health department investigates who may have had close contact with that person. Then they make recommendations to those individuals, including isolation and quarantine.

Here is the breakdown of cases by municipality as of Wednesday:

  • Middle Township: three
  • Ocean City: one
  • Avalon: one
  • Cape May City: one
  • Lower Township: one
  • Sea Isle City: one
  • Upper Township: one

Governor Phil Murphy announced 18 more deaths from the coronavirus Wednesday, raising the state total to 62. Murphy also announced on Wednesday that the state has 736 more positive tests, raising the state total to 4,402.
