"We have taken preemptive measures to prevent this group from organizing this unsanctioned event and have identified the organizers," Wildwood police said in a statement.

While the organizers canceled the event thanks to these measures, police are still prepared for any potential crowds or mayhem.

"We are working with local and state agencies to promptly shut down this unsanctioned event, if it takes place, and to hold all participants accountable," police said.

Police warned rental property owners and motel owners to take precautions while renting this weekend, as these partygoers "take over rental properties and cause property damage," they said.

This comes after the chaotic Memorial Day weekend where Wildwood had to enact a state of emergency and shut down the boardwalk due to the sheer amount of calls for service authorities received.

It also sparked lawmakers to urge passage on a bill that would give local police more authority at the Jersey Shore.

Wildwood police said they would share more information with the public as needed.
