PARSIPPANY, NJ — Michael Soriano ousted James Barberio four years ago to become Parsippany's mayor. The reverse occurred on Election Night, resulting in Soriano conceding the race Wednesday.

Barberio, a Republican, leads Soriano by about 1,000 votes in Parsippany's mayoral race with all districts reporting. In the Township Council race, Republicans Justin Musella and Frank Neglia hold the advantage against Democratic candidates Cori A. Herbig and Judith Hernandez.

Democrats entered the election with Parsippany's mayorship and two of the five council seats. But the current results would make the township unanimously Republican on its governing bodies.

“I am proud of the work we started and thank everyone who came out and voted in this election," Soriano said via his campaign. "I have been honored to serve as your mayor for the past four years. I look forward to making this an easy transition and hope the next administration continues the improvements that have been made. I am eternally grateful to Cori Herbig and Judy Hernandez who ran alongside me. I am proud of the campaign we ran and the work we did for Parsippany.”

Results don't become official until certified by the Morris County clerk. See the unofficial tallies below:
