Pedestrian Killed On Morris County Highway, Officials Say

The driver of an SUV hit the pedestrian along Route 46 on Thursday night, authorities said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Authorities say a pedestrian died after being hit by an SUV Thursday night on U.S. Route 46 in Parsippany Township.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office said the driver of a 2015 Dodge Journey was traveling eastbound and struck the pedestrian at around 9:50 p.m., near 1429 Route 46.

This is the address of one of the Starbucks coffee shops in Parsippany.

Officials said the pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified as of Friday afternoon.

The driver of the SUV remained at the crash scene, officials added.

Parsippany-Troy Hills Police and the Morris County Sheriff's Office will investigate the crash, with assistance from the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
