MTV's Jersey Shore Returns In April, But Not To Jersey

They're back, and they're live-tweeting from Miami, where the show is being filmed.

They made their names in Seaside Heights, but when Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley and the rest of the cast of MTV's "Jersey Shore" return to the screen this spring, they won't be at the Shore.

MTV announced the reunion show, called "Jersey Shore Family Vacation," will premiere Thursday, April 5. The show, which MTV initially announced in late November, is being filmed in Miami. Cast members including Deena Cortese, Vinny Guadagnino and Jenni "JWoww" Farley were live-tweeting from the set.

The original series debuted on MTV in 2009 and aired 71 episodes. It was controversial for its view of summer life in Seaside Heights, and the antics of the cast, which included some boardwalk fights and bar fights. And the attention the cast drew wherever they went grated on many local residents.

That led to questions about where the cast would film the reunion show. Seaside Heights refused to grant them permits in 2017 when a brief reunion show was filmed. Then ended up in Asbury Park and Point Pleasant Beach in June and July 2017.

Many of the cast members from the original series that aired from 2009 to 2012 are returning: Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul "Pauly D" Delvecchio," Jenni "JWOWW" Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino will be featured, the network said. But Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, who appeared in the "Reunion Road Trip" episode last summer that focused on Jersey Shore, was not among the cast listed for the new show.
