Wall Resident Tests Positive For Coronavirus: Police

Monmouth County health officials say the resident appears to have contracted the virus while outside New Jersey.

WALL, NJ — The first case of the new coronavirus has been confirmed in Wall Township, the police department announced Wednesday.

Officials with the Monmouth County Regional Health Department told Wall authorities it is believed the person contracted the coronavirus outside of New Jersey. The person is following all quarantine guidelines set by the health department, and authorities "confirmed that all proper notifications were made regarding possible exposures with the patient."

"Following the investigation by the Health Department, they are confident there has been no local exposure to the virus from this patient," Wall police said.

"Please remain vigilant, care for yourself by taking precautionary measures and following the CDC guidelines on how to protect yourself from the virus," police said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 427 positive tests for COVID-19 in New Jersey, and five people have died from it, according to the state health department. There have been 32 positive cases in Monmouth County, according to the state health department, including a 55-year-old woman who died of the illness at CentraState Medical Center.
