Warren School Parent Tests Positive For Coronavirus

WARREN, NJ — A parent of a Warren Township School student has tested positive for the new coronavirus, Schools Superintendent Matthew A. Mingle said Sunday.

"The entire family has been quarantined and information regarding the family’s identity will not be released. Please respect their privacy at this difficult time," Mingle said.

Warren Township Health Department is conducting interviews to find out if anyone else was in close contact with the parent and could be at an elevated risk of exposure.

"The exposure risk to the general student and staff population is low. Neither the parent nor child were present in any school building while symptomatic," Mingle said.

Those that think they have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing are asked to call their healthcare provider.

"I reiterate previous communications urging our residents to take the call for social distancing seriously. Avoid crowds, stay home when you are sick, and maintain 6-feet distance between other people. This is not the time for sleepovers, birthday parties, or group hangouts," Mingle said.

Gov. Phil Murphy said on Sunday that New Jersey is considering a curfew now that the number of coronavirus cases has risen to 98, and two people have died. Thirty-one new cases were announced on Sunday. (See Related: NJ Coronavirus Update: Gov. Murphy Considers Curfew, 31 New Cases)
