No Democrats Challenge DiVincenzo In Essex County Primary Election

Adam Kraemer is the only Republican candidate to file for Essex County executive in the June primary election.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — No Democrats have filed petitions to challenge Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. in the 2022 primary election, according to an unofficial list released by the Essex County Clerk’s Office.

As of Monday’s deadline, DiVincenzo was the only candidate to file a petition for the Democratic nod. First elected to his post in 2002, DiVincenzo successfully defended his seat in 2018.

Adam Kraemer, who has previously run for the New Jersey Senate, Essex County Board of Commissioners and Essex County Clerk, was the only candidate to file a petition for the Republican nomination.

The 2022 primary election in New Jersey takes place on Tuesday, June 7. The winners of that election will earn their party's nomination for the general election, which takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
