Westwood Voter Guide 2021: Who's Running, How To Vote
The general election is on Nov. 2. Check out our voter guide before you cast your ballot.
WESTWOOD, NJ — The general election is only a few weeks away, and Bergen County residents will be able to cast their votes on several state and local races.
This year, there are three ways to vote, and a number of decisions to make, including an election for governor.

Who And What Are On The Ballot?

- Governor's race: Gov. Murphy is running for reelection this year against Republican Jack Ciattarelli, Madelyn Hoffman (Green Party), Gregg Mele (Libertarian) and Joanne Kuniansky (Socialist Workers Party).
- State Senate: In New Jersey’s 39th District, Ruth Dugan, a Democrat, and Holly Schepisi, a Republican, will vie for the seat that was held by the late Gerald Cardinale for decades.
- General Assembly: In New Jersey’s 39th District, Republican incumbents Robert Auth and Deanne Defuccio will face Democrats Karlito Almeda and Melinda Iannuzzi.
- Local Council: Incumbents Jodi Murphy, a Democrat, and Cheryl Hodges, a Republican, are running for their seats, while Democrat Bermari Roig and Republican Anthony Greco are hoping to grab a seat for themselves.
- State Constitutional Questions: Voters will be asked to approve a constitutional amendment to permit wagering on all college sport or athletic activities and a constitutional amendment to allow certain organizations authorized to conduct games of chance to use proceeds from those games to support the organization.
Where And How To Vote
In-person early voting: Early voting locations in Bergen County will be open from Oct. 23 to Oct. 31. Hours for the eight locations are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The locations are:
- Jack Alter Community Center, 1355 Inwood Terrace, Fort Lee
- Administration Building 5th Floor Public Meeting Room, 1 Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack
- Mahwah Senior Center, 475 Corporate Dr., Mahwah
- Bergen Community College IT Building, 400 Paramus Rd., Paramus
- River Vale Community Center, 628 River Vale Rd., River Vale
- The Williams Center, 15 Sylvan St., Rutherford
- Tice Senior Center, 411 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Woodcliff Lake
In-person on election day: Voting will be available at regular polling locations in 2021. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Specific polling locations will be listed on sample ballots, but can also be found here.
Mail-in ballot: Voters can submit a vote-by-mail application until Oct. 26. The Bergen County Clerk released these ways to cast a ballot by mail:
- “Mailing it in as soon as possible. Your ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day.”
- “Deposit in a Secure Ballot Drop Box no later than 8pm on Election Day.”
- “Deliver your Vote by Mail ballot in person to the Board of Elections located at 1 Bergen County Plaza - Room 310 by 8pm on Election Day.”
