Around 3:15 p.m., troopers reported to the area of mile post marker 13 on the northbound side of I-684, after a report of a vehicle off the roadway. They found the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, dead.

Investigators say the 2006 Honda CRV veered to the left, entered the median at a high rate of speed, and then struck a tree.

Police initially identified the driver based on a valid New York driver's license found with him as Jose Perez Rosa.

However, state police say that they later determined that this was a false alias and the driver was in fact 53-year-old Mario B. Goris, of the Bronx. According to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, a 53-year-old Mario B. Goris was ordered deported from the U.S. in 2011 following convictions for manslaughter and possession of contraband.
