ARMONK, NY — A woman in her car in a parking lot got a scare when someone tried to enter her vehicle while she was inside, leading to a manhunt and police chase involving helicopters and K-9 units.

The North Castle Police Department says that on Friday afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., they received a report that a concerning incident had just taken place in the CVS parking lot on Main Street. A woman told police that while she was sitting in her car in the parking lot, an unfamiliar vehicle pulled up next to her. A person exited that vehicle and attempted to enter her vehicle, and then fled in an unknown direction on Main St. The caller gave police a description of the vehicle and officers attempted to locate the suspect.

Soon after, police received a call from another person in the Wrights Mill Estates area saying that a suspicious car that matched the description of the vehicle police were looking for was in that area. When officers arrived in the Wrights Mill area, they found the suspect vehicle, which began to flee, and then attempted to ram an officer's patrol car head-on, disabling the police car.

Another officer pursued the fleeing suspect vehicle, which seemed to be partially disabled. Additional units assisted in attempting to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued to fail to comply, according to authorities. Officers followed the vehicle to Sterling Road South where it was involved in a collision, exiting the roadway and colliding with shrubs and landscaping on a resident's property.

The occupants fled the vehicle and were pursued by officers into a densely wooded, swamp-like area. Other officers established a perimeter to contain the suspects. A NYS police trooper and K9 entered the swampy area and two of the occupants were apprehended.
