Mount Kisco Man Gets 18 Years For 'Brazen Act Of Violence'

He stabbed his friend and housemate, four times, including in the chest, with a kitchen knife, killing him.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — A Westchester man will go to prison for the rage-fueled killing of his former roommate and friend.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced on Wednesday that a Mount Kisco man was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to fatally stabbing his housemate, Rey David Esquivel Lemus, 36, with a kitchen knife.

"Today’s sentence holds the defendant accountable for his brazen act of violence that took the life of his friend and housemate," Rocah said. "We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Lemus’s family who grieve this senseless loss."

Oscar Manolo Morales, 42, pleaded guilty on March 28 to felony first degree manslaughter.

In addition to prison, Morales was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.

On June 24, 2023, around 11:12 p.m., Morales and Lemus had a heated argument that turned physical before being separated by another resident living in their multi-family home on Lexington Avenue in Mount Kisco.

A few minutes later, Morales grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Lemus four times, including in his chest.

The Westchester County Department of Public Safety arrested Morales shortly after arriving at the scene. Lemus was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
