ARMONK, NY — Authorities say a 38-year-old man was shot twice in an altercation with police at a Westchester home.

On Monday, shortly before 12:30 p.m., the North Castle Police Department received a call for a 78-year-old resident of a home on Hallock Place in Armonk who was in need of medical assistance. North Castle officers responded along with Armonk Ambulance personnel and a WEMS paramedic. The resident was treated and taken by ambulance to the hospital.

While on scene, however, officers realized that a 38-year-old man was also at the home. The two officers knew that he had two outstanding arrest warrants from the jurisdiction. During an effort to detain and arrest the man, a physical confrontation began. During the struggle, police say the man grabbed a knife, and attacked one of the officers with it. The second officer fired two shots with his duty pistol, striking the male subject twice, according to officials.
