Death Of Woman Found Near Dumpster Deemed Homicide: Nassau Police

Police did not say how the woman died, but ruled her death a homicide.

SOUTH HEMPSTEAD, NY — Nassau County police have identified the woman whose body was found next to a dumpster in South Hempstead earlier this week, and have ruled her death a homicide.

Police received a call at 7:40 a.m. on Feb. 14 for a woman lying on the ground next to a dumpster in the back of Advanced Auto Parts, located at 1140 Grand Ave. in South Hempstead.

The 39-year-old woman, who police have identified as Rebecca Carlson, of Hempstead, was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was taken to the Nassau County Medical Examiner's Office for examination. The examination found that her death is a homicide, though police have not yet said how she was killed.
