"His wife and children would appreciate any help as they are going through tough times to cover the funeral expenses, let alone coping with the loss of their father and husband. Candelario Cordova, 53, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Cisneros's death, authorities said.

Cordova also stabbed Cisneros's wife, Vilma Campos, 54, when she tried to intervene, Suffolk police said.

Cordova was a friend of the Cisneros family, prosecutors said.

"This defendant allegedly murdered his friend and was savagely attacking his friend’s wife when she tried to save her husband’s life," Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney stated on Friday. "Our thoughts are with the Cisneros family as we prosecute this defendant for this horrendous crime."
