Jack Abrams School Scores Grant

The Huntington STEM Magnet School received a grant from Lowe's and the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation.

Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School has scored a $4,980 grant from Lowe’s and the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation, according to the Huntington School District.

The money will go towards purchasing a greenhouse, raised beds for gardening and an aeroponics system, the school district said on its website.

School Principal Rae Montesano said the project enables students to learn to collaborate in growing vegetables, “which will then be used as part of meals for themselves and other community members.”

In growing the plants via an aeroponic method, students will learn about a system that involves no soil and very little water, and record their success rate.
