LEVITTOWN, NY — A man was arrested Wednesday morning in Levittown and charged with grand larceny for collecting more than $70,000 from a homeowner for masonry work that was never done, Nassau police said.

The victim searched online to find someone to fix cracks in his home's foundation, police said.

Martin Ward, 27, of Yonkers, using the alias "Maichel Woods," doing work with Empire Foundation and Masonry in New York, made an appointment with the homeowner, police said.

After the $70,000 was paid, the victim made multiple attempts to reach Ward, police said. The only response received was for an additional $36,000, which the victim did not give, authorities said.

Ward was arrested on Tuesday. He faces a count of second-degree grand larceny, police said. Ward was arraigned on Wednesday in District Court.
