Cops: Merrick Woman Killed in Motorcycle Accident

Man who tried to help her also injured in Sunday night incident in Freeport, cops said.

A Merrick woman has died after she crashed her motorcycle and was struck by another car in Freeport Sunday night, according to Nassau County Police.

At 11:04 p.m., the 52-year-old woman was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Mill Road when she crashed into the median, police said. The force of the collision propelled her into the westbound lanes of Merrick Road and she was ejected from her seat, cops said.

A passing driver stopped his car and tried to help but he and the victim were both struck by an oncoming car, police said.

The woman sustained multiple trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:55 a.m. by a hospital doctor, cops said. Her identity has not been released.

The man sustained non-life threatening injuries to his neck and head, officials said. He remained at the hospital for observation.

The incident was deemed accidental by investigators. No criminality is suspected.

The second car, which was driven by another woman, and the motorcycle were impounded for brake and safety checks.
