13-Year-Old Boy Hits Elementary Student In Head With Chair: Police

Police said the boy was charged with felony assault and will appear in juvenile court at a later date.

NEWBURGH, NY — A 13-year-old elementary school student was accused of striking another student in the head with a chair.

The Town of Newburgh Police Department said, around 2:30 p.m. Friday, officers were sent to Meadow Hill School for a report of an assault.

The victim — a 13-year-old girl — was stuck in the head with a chair by another student who is a 13-year-old boy, authorities said.

The girl was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and released.

Police said the boy, along with his parents, were taken to the police department, where he was arrested.

After conferring with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the boy was charged with second-degree assault, a felony.

He was turned over to his parents to appear in juvenile court at a later date.
