3 Accused Of Stealing From Poughkeepsie's Home Depot

Police said two of the people were engaged in a coordinated effort to commit retail theft.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Three men, two of whom are from the Hudson Valley, were accused of stealing merchandise from a home improvement store.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department said Wednesday Christopher S. Dale, 33, of New York City; Neigabe J. Stewart, 41, of Mount Vernon, and Shefqet Krasniqi, 44, of Wappingers Falls, were arrested following a joint operation to combat organized retail theft occurring in the town of Poughkeepsie.

On Friday, members of the New York State Police and the Town of Poughkeepsie police conducted an operation at the Home Depot located on North Road.

Police said, during the operation, Dale and Stewart were found to be engaged in a coordinated effort to commit retail theft.

They were caught using $1,400 in counterfeit United States currency to pay for $1,270 worth of merchandise at Home Depot, according to law enforcement.

Additionally, during the same operation, Krasniqi was seen stealing more than $1,200 in merchandise from the store, police said.

Dale was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree conspiracy, felonies.

He was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court and was released under the supervision of the Dutchess County Probation Department to return to court at a later date.

Stewart was charged with fourth-degree conspiracy, a felony. He was arraigned and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Krasniqi was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony. He was released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court at a later date.
