Bronx Man Uses Stolen Account Info To Steal Smartphone: Police

MIDDLETOWN, NY — A Bronx man was accused of stealing smartphones from the Middletown Walmart.

The New York State Police on Sunday announced the arrest of Tairon Pressley, 35, of Bronx, after an investigation into a highly organized retail theft of cell phones.

Police said the man is accused of using stolen account information from cellular customers to steal Apple and Samsung smartphones from the Middletown Walmart on Route 211 on several dates in February and March.

Pressley stole more than $33,000 worth of phones, police said.

He was apprehended by members of the state police working with Walmart loss prevention targeting organized retail crimes.

Pressley was charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, felonies.

He was arraigned in the Town of Mount Hope Court and released on his own recognizance.

Pressley is scheduled to appear in the Town of Wallkill Court Wednesday.
