Poughkeepsie Man Accused Of Selling Crack Cocaine

Authorities said he also was found with a loaded illegal handgun.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A town of Poughkeepsie man was arrested after being accused of selling crack cocaine in Dutchess County.

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force said a search warrant was executed Thursday at the Pendell Commons residence of Jaylen Shaw, 22, of Poughkeepsie.

As a result of the search, he was found to be armed with a loaded illegal handgun along with thousands of rounds of ammunition, law enforcement said.

A large quantity of crack cocaine and cash was also seized, according to authorities. The narcotics were partially packaged and ready for distribution.

Shaw was taken into custody and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a firearm (loaded 9mm handgun) and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, all felonies.

He was taken to the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court where he was released by the court due to mandatory bail laws, according to the task force.
