75-Year-Old Rushed To ER After Stabbing Herself In Stomach: Cops

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Mount Vernon police are investigating what appeared to be a self-inflicted stabbing early this morning.

Investigators say the distressing events unfolded shortly before 1 a.m. on Beechwood Avenue.

Mount Vernon police received a call reporting a self-inflicted stabbing to the abdomen of a 75-year-old woman. Officers arriving on the scene found the woman bleeding from her injuries.

She was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center.

Mount Vernon police are asking anyone with information about the early morning incident to contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510. Police say all calls will be kept confidential. Anonymous tips can also be sent via MVPD's "Text-A-Tip" by texting "MVPD" and the tip to 847411. Information can also be sent anonymously using the "Mount Vernon PD" app, available in the Google Play and Apple stores.
