Police Looking For Shooter Who Fired A Single Shot And Fled

Police are asking anyone with information about the strange gunfire incident to contact the MVPD Detective Division.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A single gunshot rang out Thursday morning, but the shooter disappeared soon after.

The Mount Vernon Police Department says that at around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, they received reports of one shot fired at the corner of 10th Ave. and W. Third St. However, there were no reports of any victims or property damage.

Police are investigating, but so far, no arrests have been reported.

Mount Vernon police are asking anyone with information about the gunfire to contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510. Police said all calls will be kept confidential. Tips can also submitted anonymously tip through the MVPD "Text-A-Tip" by texting "MVPD" and the tip to 847411. Tips can also be submitted anonymously using the "Mount Vernon PD" app, available in the Google Play and Apple store.
