Suspect Sought In Monday Night Home Invasion: Stony Point Police

A shot was fired during a struggle with two people in ski masks, and police have one man in custody.

STONY POINT, NY — A Stony Point resident called police at 9:40 p.m. Monday saying someone had tried to shoot him as he struggled with two masked men in his garage.

Stony Point Police responded to 22 Dickens St., along with Haverstraw Police, Rockland County
Sheriff’s Department, New York State Police, and the New York State Park Police.

Officers located the 64-year-old victim, who said two men wearing ski masks confronted him as he entered his garage. One of them displayed a firearm, and during a struggle, a shot was fired.

Stony Point detectives were assisted in their investigation by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Departments BCI and Computer Crimes units, and both the Rockland County Sheriff’s and Westchester County Police Canine Units.

A handgun was located at the scene.

A suspect was apprehended shortly afterward, police said.

Bronx resident Julian Sanchez, 34, was charged with Burglary 1st, Robbery 1st, Criminal Use Firearm 1st, CPW 2nd, Reckless Endangerment 1st, Grand Larceny 3rd, CPSP 3rd and CPW 3rd.

He was awaiting arraignment, police said Tuesday morning.
