NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The pedigree of Executive Chef Chris dos Reis will no doubt bring the foodies flocking, but it's his attention to the things that make his hometown special that will keep us coming back again and again.

Dos Reis built his reputation during tenures at wildly popular restaurants like Momofuku Ko and Blue Hill at Stone Barns, but his latest venture, where he has crafted a menu featuring local ingredients in a casual and welcoming setting, might just earn him a key to the Queen City on the Sound.

Town House is now open in the heart of New Rochelle’s booming downtown. While the seasonal menus are the star of the show, dos Reis said the Main Street space that celebrates conversation and festive gatherings is a big part of what makes Town House one-of-a-kind.

"I was born and raised in New Rochelle and grew up eating at the restaurants up and down Main Street. For me, it’s thrilling to contribute to downtown’s revitalization," dos Reis explained. "Fortunately Town House is near to so many incredible farms which means the bulk of the food and drink menu features local ingredients. The menu is my version of American food but because of my Portuguese heritage and style of cooking, I am bringing new interpretations to familiar dishes."

A regular at nearby farmers markets and Hudson Valley farms, dos Reis features the best of the season in Town House’s menu. The menu begins with signature small plates and salads, including Big Eye Tuna Tartare, Grilled Octopus, Pan Con Tomate and Tomato and Shaved Goat Cheese Salad with Badger Flame Beets and Heirloom Berries.

For the fall season, main dishes include Pastured Duck Breast with Huckleberry and Chanterelles, Line-Caught Montauk Sea Bass with Turnip Puree, Grass-Fed Steak Au Poivre and the Town House Burger with Hudson Valley Bacon. For those with a sweet tooth, a decadent Caramel Flan, Rice Pudding with Rhubarb and Strawberries, along with Chocolate Cremeux topped with a port and cherry sauce complete the meal.

An extensive list of old and new world wines, craft beers on draught and a dynamic seasonal craft cocktail program complement the menu. Cocktails like the Drunken Koala composed of vodka, eucalyptus, blackberry and barolo chinato and the Spanish Spritz made with fino sherry, vermouth and cava have appeal for both adventurous drinkers and classic cocktail aficionados.

Town House is set in a three-story restored historic building in the center of New Rochelle’s budding Arts & Culture district. The name reflects each floor’s versatility as space for dining, private parties, art exhibits, performances and community events.

"We are thrilled to be a part of the redevelopment of downtown New Rochelle and greatly appreciate the support we have received from New York State and the City of New Rochelle as a recipient of a generous grant from the New York State Main Street Program," owner Tom Middleton said. "We also feel so welcomed and encouraged by residents and neighboring shop owners. We want Town House to be a place where everyone in town can find a reason to come and share our house."
