LI Man Charged With DWI Crashed Into 2 Parked Cars, Tried To Flee: PD

GREENPORT, NY — A man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed into two parked cars in Greenport and tried to flee the scene on Friday, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place at 11:35 p.m. at 3rd Street and Johnson Court. Jose Giron Pacheco, 33, of Greenport, was driving a 2009 Toyota sedan southbound on 3rd Street when he struck two parked cars, police said.

Giron Pacheco's vehicle became disabled in the collision; when police arrived, Giron Pacheco fled on foot and was seen running into the woods behind a residence on 3rd Street, police said.

The Southold Police Department's K9 Solo located Giron Pacheco after a brief search, police said.

He was found to be intoxicated and subsequently arrested, charged with DWI and held for arraignment, police said.
