Elwood Students Score Suffolk Zone Award
Students noted for academic and athletic achievements.

Selected among the graduating class of 2015, Elwood-John H. Glenn High School seniors Simisola Familusi and Anthony Pino received the New York State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Suffolk Zone Award.
Every high school in Suffolk County annually recognizes its top male and female physical education students based on NYSAHPERD’s criteria. Students nominated must exemplify a supreme level of physical education achievement, demonstrate leadership ability in school-wide activities and serve as outstanding role models for their peers and within their community.

Along with their exceptional academic achievements, the seniors display superior talent in their athletic sports. Familusi is a member of the Varsity Volleyball team, which placed second in the Class “B” All-State Volleyball Finals in the 2014 season. In addition, Familusi a was recently named Newsday’s All-Long Island volleyball player.
Pino dedicated his four years to the Elwood-John H. Glenn Knights football and wrestling teams. With a passion for the sport, Pino aspires to continue his football career in college.

Among other student recipients, Familusi and Pino were recognized and received their award at the Suffolk Zone Chapter of the New York State Association dinner on Dec. 3.
