The final beam was placed Tuesday on the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum and Sea Cadet Training Facility in West Sayville.

The museum, which honors Murphy, a Navy SEAL from Patchogue killed in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings in 2005 at the age of 29, also held a dedication ceremony on Tuesday—what would have been Murphy's birthday.

Murphy was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in protecting his comrades.
