Funeral Services Set For Husband, Wife Who Died In East Marion Crash

NORTH FORK, NY — Funeral services have been set for a couple who died in an East Marion crash Friday night.

Visiting hours for Dr. Patricia O’Neill and Dr. Peter Smith of Brooklyn and Orient will be held Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, located at 13805 Main Road in Mattituck.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, located at 14300 Main Road in Mattituck.

Interment will follow at Orient Central Cemetery.

In lieu flowers, donations may be made in their names to Oysterponds Historical Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Police identified the four people who died in the head-on crash in East Marion Friday night as Heath Miller, 47, of Greenport, William Price, 55, of Wilton, CT, and Smith, 80, and O'Neill, 66, Southold Town police said.

Miller and Price were traveling west on Route 25 in a 2023 Tesla, Smith and O'Neill were heading east in a 2020 Ford Explorer, police said. The crash took place just after 11:30 p.m. on New York State Route 25, police said.

The crash is currently being investigated by the Southold police detectives, authorities said.

A Suffolk County Police emergency services unit as well as East Marion, Orient, and Southold Fire Departments responded, police said.
