Ammonia Spill Causes Evacuation Of Nassau Ice Skating Rink: Police

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene on Saturday night, police said.

BETHPAGE, NY — An ammonia spill caused the evacuation of the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Rink in Bethpage, police said.

Officers responded Saturday evening for a hazardous material leaking from a tank.

The Bethpage, Levittown, Hicksville, Plainview and Westbury fire departments were able to contain the ammonia.

The Nassau County Police Emergency Service Unit and the county's HAZMAT team also were on the scene.

Four men were evaluated by the Bethpage Fire Department. They refused further medical attention.
