Suffolk Man Who Threatened Elementary School Staff Arrested: Cops

He yelled threatening statements at school staff at around 3 p.m., and was arrested at his home afterward, Suffolk police said.

RONKONKOMA, NY — A Ronkonkoma man was charged with making a threat of mass harm after threatening school staff on Friday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

John Carroll drove into the parking lot of Cherokee Street Elementary School in Ronkonkoma and yelled threatening statements at school staff, at around 3 p.m., according to police.

He was found at his home and charged with the misdemeanor at around 12:14 a.m., following an investigation by 4th Precinct Crime Section officers, police said.

Carroll, 63, was held overnight at the 6th Precinct in Selden for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.

Neighbors expressed surprise over his arrest to News 12.

Ronkonkoma resident Chuck Hollingsworth told the outlet: “He's quiet. He keeps to himself, and I really don't understand how this happened to him."
