Sachem Health And Physical Education Teachers Honored

Two Sachem Central School District staff members were recognized as teachers of the year at a recent awards dinner.

The Suffolk Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance recognized two Sachem Central School District staff members as teachers of the year at a recent awards dinner.

Congratulations to Sachem High School East’s Siobhan Cully, who received the High School Health Education Teacher of the Year Award, and to Seneca Middle School’s Pete Cafiso, who was named the Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

Cully and Cafiso were honored at the Suffolk Zone Conference held at Ward Melville High School back in November and just received their awards at the Suffolk Zone Professional Awards Dinner last month. These awards were selected by Cully and Cafiso’s peers in health and physical education.

Additionally, a Sachem High School East graduate was honored. Jared Rago, Class of 2020, was named the Future Professional of the Year and was selected as the Future Professional Section President.

The district congratulates its teachers and graduate on these prestigious honors.
