Suffolk Cop Hurt After Tractor-Trailer Hits Patrol Car on LIE

Officer was on construction detail at the time of crash early Monday morning.

A Suffolk County Police Highway Patrol officer was airlifted to the hospital after his patrol car was struck by a tractor-trailer early Monday morning on the Long Island Expressway in Lake Ronkonkoma, police said.

Officer Arthur Hull was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for neck and back pain following the crash, which occurred at about 4:45 a.m.

According to police, Hull was in his vehicle on construction detail and was in the process of diverting traffic off the eastbound LIE at Exit 60 when the tractor-trailer, driven by Harrideo Persaud, struck the rear of his car. The police car then struck a guardrail, police said.

Motor Carrier Safety Section officers conducted a follow-up safety inspection on the tractor-trailer, which is owned by HS & S Trucking Corporation of Winter Garden, Fla.
