Trio Nabbed In String Of Farmingville Area Burglaries: Cops

They were caught just after a burglary at Dunkin in Farmingville, police said.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Three people were arrested Friday in connection with a string of burglaries at Dunkin locations and other businesses near Farmingville since December, Suffolk police said.

A pair broke into Dunkin on Horseblock Road in Farmingville, and stole cash, they got into a waiting vehicle before speeding away at around 3:40 a.m., police said, adding that a short time later, detectives pulled over the vehicle and arrested the driver, Michael Gruber, and his passengers, Kristen Osmolia and Christopher Volpe.

Major Case Unit detectives found Gruber and Volpe also burglarized Dunkin's in Holbrook, Smithtown, Saint James, and Setauket, police said.

The trio, including Gruber, 54, and Volpe, 44, and Osmolia, 51, all live at the same address in Holbrook, according to police. They were slapped with multiple burglary charges in connection with the burglaries, police said.

Osmolia was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary for the Dunkin burglaries that occurred in January in Farmingville, Holbrook, and Smithtown, as well as one at Sunoco in Hauppauge, according to police.

Volpe was also charged with two counts of third-degree burglary for a burglary at Sunoco in Hauppauge on and Toast in Port Jefferson, as well as nine domestic-related warrants, police said.

Gruber was additionally charged with third-degree burglary for a burglary at Toast in Port Jefferson on Dec. 3, according to police.

They will be held overnight for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
