Man Uses Counterfeit Money At Shirley Business: Police

The man tried to use a fake $100 bill at Walgreens but ran away before the transaction could be completed, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help finding the man who, police said, used counterfeit money at a Shirley business in June.

A man tried to use a counterfeit $100 dollar bill to purchase assorted merchandise at Walgreens, at 863 Montauk Highway, around 11:05 a.m. June 6, police said. The man is believed to be between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall and weighs between 185 to 200 pounds and ran away before the transaction could be completed, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to reach Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip via phone call at 1-800-220-TIPS, using a mobile app which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com. A cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
