BREWSTER, NY — The former office manager of a business in Brewster is accused of stealing more than $97,000 from her employer.

In April, members of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation were advised by a business owner in the village that they suspected that the bookkeeper/office manager that they had hired in January was taking funds from the company's payroll and operating accounts.

Investigators analyzed numerous financial documents and conducted interviews with the company owner and manager about the bookkeeping discrepancies, Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reported.
