INWOOD, MANHATTAN — The death of a man found hanged from a tree in Fort Tryon Park last week has been deemed a suicide.

The city's medical examiner confirmed Tuesday that Dominique Alexander's cause of death was ruled to be a "suicide by hanging."

Alexander, 27, was found in the park on a path near The Cloisters on June 9, according to police. A passerby discovered Alexander's body around 6 a.m. that day and he was pronounced dead by emergency responders at the scene.

“He was definitely loved by his family and his community," his brother, Keats Alexander, told the Daily News. "It’s just so much."

Many on social media are comparing Alexander's death to the hanging deaths of two other black men, and a Hispanic man, in Texas and California over the last week. Each of those three deaths, also deemed suicides, have sparked calls for lynching investigations, according to BET.
