25 Days Of Holiday Volunteering — Day 1: Adopt A Family

Volunteer New York! makes it easy to find ways to help — through donations, supporting nonprofits and even volunteering from home.

Today’s opportunity is the 2023 Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays. This virtual volunteering opportunity from Friends of Karen will match people with a child or children who are facing an illness and are sent their wish lists to fulfill. Volunteers can choose to buy one gift for one child or several gifts for several children. Friends of Karen includes gift-wrapping materials when it sends the volunteers’ gifts to the child’s family, though donations of gift wrap, tape, bows and holiday candy are always welcome.
