Philadelphia 'Zoo On Wheels' To Come To Hatboro

The mobile exhibit features a wide variety of lessons that can be enjoyed by all ages.

The Philadelphia Zoo On Wheels program is coming to the Union Library of Hatboro on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

The mobile wildlife and environmental education exhibit is an extension of the Zoo, and brings live animals to parties, schools, libraries, and festivals around the region.

The shows, aimed at children 4 and up but enjoyed by adults as well, cover a wide variety of lessons. According to their website, they include:

  • Who’s Who at the Zoo: Discover amazing characteristics that define birds, mammals and reptiles. Students learn all about classification and how animals adapt for survival in the wild. Includes a bird, mammal, reptile, and “mystery” animal
  • Habitats Around the World: Travel around the world and learn about diverse habitats and how wildlife thrive there. Learn about how our choices at home impact animals all around the world and ways to can become a Wildlife Warrior.
  • Invertebrate Exploration: Get an up-close view of the little guys in our world: invertebrates! Classroom program only, includes up to three species of invertebrates and predator.
  • Radical Rainforests: Starting from the ground up, students learn about this complex ecosystem and meet animals from among the different layers of the rainforest.
  • Bird Exploration: With over 10,000 species this is a complex group of animals! Students will meet different bird species and learn how they are built to survive in their particular habitat. Includes four feathered friends.
  • Reptile Exploration: Explore the scaly side of wildlife with snakes, turtles, and lizards! Students will gain understanding of the importance of these misunderstood animals in a variety of ecosystems. Includes a snake, lizard, turtle and a “mystery” reptile.
  • Built to Survive: Animals have some “cool tools” for survival! From camouflage and spines to wings and prehensile tails, learn how animals use these special adaptations to take on the challenges of life and their unique habitats.
