HORSHAM, PA -- Authorities are investigating after a video reportedly surfaced showing Hatboro-Horsham School District teens chasing and beating another student.

Hatboro-Horsham has confirmed the incident, and sent a letter home to parents on Friday regarding the incident. They characterized it as bullying.

"The Hatboro-Horsham School District community is more than disheartened to learn of a video involving some of our students," Curtis Griffin, the district's superintendent, said in a statement Tuesday. "The video, which was recorded off of school grounds outside of the school day, captures a bullying incident against a vulnerable student. The cruelty displayed in the video is heart wrenching."

The video, obtained by NBC10, shows that the incident occurred off of school property.

One teen is shown fleeing across a grass field. When the other two catch up they tackle him to the ground and begin punching him repeatedly in the face.

The district said that they will work with students over the coming weeks to "reaffirm the proactive role they can play in recognizing and alerting others to bullying behaviors."
