Denny's Closes Last Bucks County Location

The iconic eatery continues the trend of breakfast business losses in Bucks with the recent closure of its Langhorne location.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Another breakfast icon has closed its doors in Bucks County.

Denny's —known for its Grand Slam breakfasts —has permanently closed its location at 640 E. Lincoln Highway in Middletown Township.

The website listed it as permanently closed, meaning that Bucks County residents will have to drive to Delaware County, the Lehigh Valley, or New Jersey to get their breakfast favorites from the eatery, which was known for its breakfast specials.

Denny's has shuttered more than two dozen locations this year, including the one in Langhorne. It has remaining locations in Essington in Delaware County, Allentown in the Lehigh Valley, and Bordentown, N.J.

As of March, the Denny's brand had 1,553 locations, according to its website.

The company started in 1953 in California as a donut shop before developing into an iconic breakfast establishment that also served lunch and dinner and catered and was open late for the college and bar crowds seeking a snack or meal.

Denny's is the latest casualty among casual dining chains in Bucks County.

In March, Bob Evans family-style restaurant closed its doors in Bensalem, ending the eatery's presence in the Philadelphia region. The chain also was known for its breakfast plates is now listed on Google searches as permanently closed and its website promoting its location at 1369 Bristol Pike across from the Woodhaven Mall can no longer be found.

Last November, Perkins Restaurant and Bakery at 705 York Rd. in Warminster shut its doors for good after 40 years in business.
