Kevin Smith Teasing Possible 'Mallrats 2' Location In DelCo

Fueling reports that Delaware County could be the filming location for his next film, Kevin Smith on Wednesday posted a picture of himself and his daughter outside the Granite Run Mall in Media on Instagram, with the following caption:

“Come October, this might be the Mall, y’all... #MR2#MallBrats #DelCo”

Reports that Smith has been negotiating with the mall owner, BET Investments, to use as a location in the upcoming “Mallrats 2” began circulating last spring.

Also the director of “Dogma” and more recently the creator and cast member of the AMC series “Comic Book Men,” Smith released the original “Mallrats” in 1995, starring Jason Lee, Ben Affleck and Shannen Doherty.

While set in a typical New Jersey mall, the first “Mallrats” was actually filmed at the Eden Prairie Mall in Minnesota. However, there is an exterior shot used of the now demolished Route 1 Flea Market in New Brunswick, N.J.
