UPPER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Summer in Southampton.

There's only one thing that symbolizes summer and that's the annual carnival which takes place every Fourth of July week and includes fireworks and lots of festivities.

Southampton Days kicked off Monday and runs through Saturday with the main events on Thursday: the Fourth of July parade, the annual dog show, and fireworks in the evening.

Each night offers some sort of theme and Family Night specials on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There are lots of bands, activities for children, entertainment, and of course the food and rides.

"The community definitely looks forward to our week-long event each year," Stephanie Miller, the president of Southampton Days, told Patch before last year's event. "It has become a family tradition for many."

The fair is located between Tamanend Park and Klinger Middle School at 1255 Second Street Pike in Southampton.

Canned goods will be collected during the Southampton Days July 4th Parade, which begins at 9:30 a.m. on 2nd Street Pike.

Look for the red truck in the parade. Donations will be given to Jesus Focus Ministry at Bethanna in Southampton.

Here is the schedule below:

Tuesday, July 2 —Family Night and Table Vendors — 6-10 p.m.

Family entertainment:

  • Midway Stage, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. —Puppets Pizzazz

Musical Entertainment:

  • Southampton Community Band —Lion’s Grove, 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • School Of Rock Musical Performances —Midway Stage, 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Table Vendor Night:

  • Stop by the vendor tables and get information about local businesses.

Wednesday, July 3 —Family Night and Table Vendors — 6-10 p.m.

Family entertainment:

  • Family Night —All rides are $30 per person
  • Peaceable Kingdom Petting Zoo —Lions Grove, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Cirque Adventure, Midway area, 7-8 p.m.

Musical Entertainment:

  • DJ Drew Nichols' "Family Dance Party" —Midway Stage, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Table Vendor Night:

  • Stop by the venter tables and get information about local businesses!

Thursday, July 4 —9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

  • 9 a.m. —Baby Parade —Baby Parade/bikes form at First Trust Bank.
  • 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. —Southampton Days Parade —Parade forms at Jaymor Road and precedes north on Second St. Pike to Klinger Middle School.
  • Noon to 6 p.m. —Fair is closed. No parking at Klinger after 2 p.m. No admission to the fairgrounds before 6 p.m. (You will be asked to leave and come back.)
  • 6 p.m. to Closing —$3 General Admission per person to enter the fairgrounds. Children under 3 are free. Includes entrance to fairgrounds, fireworks, and concerts.
  • 6 p.m. —Free bus service will be provided from area shopping centers. Riders will be returned after the fireworks show. (Expect up to a one-hour wait for the return to parking areas.)
  • 9:30 p.m. —National Anthem
  • 9:35 p.m. —Fireworks

Saturday, July 8 — Pie Eating Contest —6-10 p.m.

  • Designer Bag Bingo —2-5:30 p.m. (Tickets Must Be Purchased In Advance; first game starts at 2:30 p.m.)

Family entertainment:

  • George the Magician & Bubble Extraordinaire —Midway Stage - 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
  • Pie Eating Contest —Midway Stage area, 8 p.m.

Musical Entertainment:
