Philadelphia Phillies Fans Frenzied Over World Series Trip

Across the city and Philadelphia suburbs, fans reacted Monday to the Phillies going to the World Series for the first time since 2009.

PHILADELPHIA, PA —It might actually be a Manic Monday.

Manic as in frenzied. Manic as in feverish. Manic as in fans of the Philadelphia Phillies waking up knowing that their team is going to the World Series.

Across the city and Philadelphia suburbs, fans were rejoicing over Sunday's victory over the San Diego Padres that propelled the team to the 8th National League pennant in the team's 139-year history.

"It's awesome. There's a lot of good energy that's brought to the area," Yardley Borough Manager Paula Johnson said Monday. "I think it's great. People in Yardley are excited seeing a local team do well."

After the Phillies' victory, the Yardley Borough Police Department posted a recent picture of a furry friend officials and residents got to hang with at last month's Harvest Day Festival —the Phillie Phanatic. Mayor Chris Harding posted it on his Facebook page as well the comment "PHILLIES."

Fans from all over the Delaware Valley took to social media Sunday night and Monday to tip the cap to the Phillies for getting to the World Series after winning playoff rounds against the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres.

In Philadelphia, fans were out on the streets Sunday night following Bryce Harper's home run that took the Phillies to the World Series. Game 1 is Friday against the Houston Astros.

On the Official Philadelphia Phillies Fan Group page, there was one Tweet honoring Bryce Harper's heroics and home run that sent the Phillies to the World Series with the message "All Hail the King!"

Other fans began focusing on the Astros and some of the potential pitching matchups.

A Dick's Sporting Goods Store in Runnemede had lines around the building Sunday night after the Phillies victory.

Just after the win, Tanner Brothers Dairy in Northampton Township posted a picture on its Facebook page showing a cow with a Phillies hat and offering congratulations for being "World Series bound."

The Continental Tavern in Yardley posted "LET’S GO PHILLIESSSS! Congratulations on the Pennant! Who is ready for the World Series?!" on its Facebook page Monday.

At the Schoolhouse Learning Center in Southampton, children had a little dance party Monday in honor of the win in the hallway. WATCH VIDEO.

The Penndel Borough Police Department posted a photo of the Phanatic leaning on one of its squad cars.

The Ocean City (N.J.) Boardwalk Facebook page also posted a photo of the Phanatic by a lifeboat.

The Neshaminy School District posted a Facebook picture with the caption: "Pretty sure there will be a lot of Phillies red in our schools this week! On to the WORLD SERIES!"

In Levittown, Phillies fans celebrated Sunday night at Five Points, a gathering place when the Phillies won the World Series in 1980 and in 2008, LevittownNow reported.
