Sail Boat Catches Fire, Sinks In North Kingstown Harbor

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A boat caught fire Wednesday evening and sunk to the bottom of the marina at Allen Harbor in North Kingstown, according to fire officials.

Fire Chief Scott Kettelle said firefighters arrived and found a 35-foot sailboat fully engulfed in flames. Emergency crews found one person onboard the boat, who was evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation.

Crews extinguished the fire, but weren't able to keep the boat from sinking, fire officials said.

Kettelle said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The East Greenwich Firefighters Association said their firefighters are assisted the North Kingstown department on scene.
