Williamson Schools Director Takes Medical Leave

Williamson County Director of Schools Mike Looney will begin receiving treatment for a pancreatic tumor and remain on medical leave.

FRANKLIN, TN -- Williamson County Director of Schools Mike Looney will be taking a leave of absence while he receives treatment for a pancreatic tumor, the district announced Tuesday.

While he is on medical leave, his deputy Jason Golden will lead the district.

Looney will be receiving treatment and undergoing surgery. It is not clear when his medical leave will begin.

The district said in a release Looney asks for privacy and for people to refrain from sending cards, flowers, emails or text messages.

The director is due in court on March 27 to face an assault charge stemming from an incident at Franklin High School.
