Smyrna Nissan Worker Dies From Injuries After 'Industrial Accident'

SMYRNA, TN — The man who was injured in an accident at Smyrna's Nissan plant Wednesday died early Thursday.

“We can confirm that a Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant employee was involved in an incident yesterday and transported to the hospital where he passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with the employee’s family during this difficult time. The safety and well-being of our team members continues to be Nissan’s top priority,” the automaker said in a statement.

The man's identity has not been released.

Emergency crews responded to the plant just before 11 a.m. Wednesday and the victim was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center shortly thereafter.
