Amazon Looking To Fill More Than 100 Jobs At North Austin Corporate Office

The jobs are primarily tech-related aimed at web development, and another 1,000 positions will be need to be filled at San Marcos center.

AUSTIN, TX -- The Amazon corporate offices in the Domain area is expanding its local operations again and needs to fill more than 100 positions, according to a published report.

The Seattle-based company has more than doubled its workforce to 350 employees since launching its local hub at the Domain 7 building at 11501 Alterra Parkway, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The Amazon positions that need to be filled mostly tech-related tied to development of the company's online presence to its global clientele, the Statesman reported.

A spokesman for the firm foresees even more future growth as the local operations increasingly adopts the role of a de facto Texas headquarters for the retail behemoth, according to the report.

A cursory glance at Amazon’s Austin job website on Monday showed more than 175 openings in the Austin region, the Statesman noted. Company officials last summer said their Texas workforce numbers 3,500 employees and had a capital investment of $300 million, the newspaper reported, referencing figures from the state comptroller's office.

Another 1,000 positions are expected to be created with last month's opening of a new Amazon fulfillment center in San Marcos, according to the report.
