Patch Pet Of The Week: Chipa

Chipa is a pup from Paraguay who was rescued and bought back to the U.S. by her owner. Her story is so inspiring!

Welcome Chipa, our brand new Patch Pet of the Week!

Chipa (aka Chipi) has a very unique story. She is originally from Paraguay – she was a street dog there. Her owner found her while she was serving in the Peace Corps and Chipa was brought back to the U.S. almost a year ago. She is very high energy and loves going through the trash to see what goodies she can find. Chipa loves socializing with other dogs (no matter how big they are) and running errands with her mom.

First day home

Chipa was found by her mom at about 4 weeks old in bad condition (but still adorable). She was covered in fleas and had parasites buried into her paws. However, when she met her new mom, she immediately snuggled up to her and never left my side since then.

Favorite treat

She loves bones!

Weirdest thing she ever ate

This is something something you don't hear everyday. Chipa once ate a monkey skull.

Likes

Chipa is a big snuggler – it's her favorite thing to do. She also likes licking strangers on the face as her way of saying hello. She also enjoys a juicy steak, but what dog doesn't?

Dislikes

Chipa doesn't like the cold at all, which makes sense since she's from a much warmer climate. She also gets very scared when she hears loud noises at night. Also, like a lot of pups, she doesn't enjoy hanging around with cats.

Funniest habit

She loves hiding bones all around the house for her owner to find, especially in laundry bins or inside of boots.

'Chipa is adapting well to life in America'

She was afraid of things like the carpet at first, but she is getting the hang of it and understands now the carpet is not okay to pee on. People tell her all the time how lucky she is to have gotten to come to the U.S., but her owner feels like the lucky one for having Chipa in her life. Awwww.
